Have you ever attended a workout but then didn’t feel anything during it or after? Ruling out attention span, it could be that you’re stabilizing with your joints!😬😨

For about 20 percent of the population, stretching happens easily, requiring little effort. Looking closely at people with hypermobility, stretching is not the issue, joint laxity is.

Here’s another wall exercise to try out. The focus here is abdominal engagement while building back-line awareness. The back-line I’m referring to includes the heels, glutes, hips, back, shoulders and skull.

Try rolling down 5 X keeping the pelvis glued to the wall. ☝🏼Remember to sequence one vertebrae at a time on the way down and up. ☝🏼☝🏼Try to do it with the longest possible spine (no slouching).

🔥Wall workouts are a great way to build body aw

🔥Wall workouts are a great way to build body awareness and provide you with proprioceptive feedback. Here’s a quick heart thumper to shift your mental and physical gears at the office or at home.

Walk your feet at least 1FT+ distance from the wall. Keep legs hip width apart, knees forward. Focus on connecting your entire back to the wall while ensuring that your legs are shifted back and deep into the hip socket (90 degrees at the knees). If you’re unsure, reach your sits bones 🍑🍑back as you squat then press your head, shoulders, ribs and back (no arching) against the wall. This will turn those deep abdominals on 🔥! If you only feel quads, you are probably tucking your pelvis ✖️⚠️. Hold for 20 secs and repeat up to 5 X.

For more of a challenge and to incorporate more back muscles add arms by reaching them out to shoulder level against the wall. Rotate palms out and back against the wall while continuing to reach the shoulder blades apart as much as possible.

Strength is not something you are inherently born with. Nor is it something that you ‘get’ after signing up for a program or after attending a couple of sessions. Strength develops over time and built upon many smaller movements and practiced repeatedly. It’s the stuff you don’t see, the mundane, repetitious and non glamorous work of showing up. An activity that is repeated builds strength via neural connections in the brain and in movement patterns in the body.
